DataPacket 2024: 10 Years strong and bigger than ever
Stepping into 2025, we would like to look back at the remarkable year of 2024 at DataPacket. It was marked by expansion, modern hardware, and celebrations of 10 years of bringing our service to clients worldwide. Read on to catch up on all the highlights and what is coming next!
Expanding our global presence
Bringing our services closer to your users remains a top priority. This year, we opened eight new data centers in key locations worldwide: Melbourne, McAllen, Vancouver, Lima, Santiago, Lagos, Oslo, Budapest, and Palermo. Our higher data center density delivers lower latency, enhanced reliability, and expanded access for customers worldwide. With no plans to slow down, we’re excited to continue building in 2025. Hardware evolution
Hardware upgrades played a major role in 2024. Our most popular server, the Intel Xeon E-2336 (6 cores), was replaced mid-year by the AMD Ryzen™ 5 7600 (6 cores) due to its better cost-efficiency and comparable or superior performance. Despite its late introduction, the Ryzen 5 7600 quickly became the third most-sold server of the year.
To meet growing demands, we fully transitioned to AMD processors, adding two high-performance options to our lineup:
Additionally, we introduced a new GPU line to cater to AI, machine learning, and video processing workloads. This included NVIDIA A100, A40, H100, A16, and RTX A4000 GPUs, offering our customers powerful options for compute-intensive tasks.
Pricing revolution = Server deployment
This year, we introduced our Server Deployment feature, replacing the old Instant Delivery and Pricing pages with a more streamlined and user-friendly experience. The new system includes an advanced filtering tool, enabling customers to sort by location, specifications, performance, and price to find their ideal server quickly.
Currently, this feature is exclusively accessible to our clients through their panels, offering support for instant deployment of in-stock servers and the option for custom configurations. In the coming quarter, we’ll expand its reach by replacing our public pricing page with this feature, making it available to everyone and ensuring a seamless, modern experience for all users.
Massive deployment, wider network coverage
2024 was a year of significant growth and development in our network and infrastructure. We deployed over 13,000 new servers globally to meet the demands of our clients, further strengthening our capacity to deliver reliable and scalable solutions.
Our network expansion included the addition or upgrade of 222 peers, bringing our total capacity to an impressive 43,100G. Additionally, our global backbone grew by 9,300G, ensuring robust interconnectivity that now spans 42 locations worldwide.
A decade to be celebrated
This year marked 10 years of DataPacket, a significant milestone that celebrates our journey from inception to becoming a trusted global leader. To commemorate this achievement, we launched the D1P1 Tribute Project, a heartfelt reflection on our past and a commitment to driving innovation forward.
